There are two moments that mark the rhythm of summer in Walkerville. The first is the evening in late June when Argyle Road comes alive with string lights, the smell of something good from a food truck, and the low hum of a live band warming up outside Walkerville Brewery. The second is the last Friday of September, when that same scene unfolds one final time before the nights turn cool and the neighbourhood settles back into autumn.

Everything in between — four evenings spread across the warmest months of the year — is the Walkerville Distillery District Night Market. Free admission. All ages. Dogs welcome. And for guests staying at Distillery Homes, it's happening steps from your front door.

Four Nights. One Neighbourhood. All Summer Long.

Organised by Walkerville Brewery and held right on Argyle Road in front of their taproom at 525 Argyle Road, the Night Market runs on the last Friday of every summer month from 5pm to 11pm. It is one of those events that feels both carefully put together and genuinely effortless — a neighbourhood gathering that happens to be very well executed.

What to Expect on the Night

The market celebrates art, entertainment, food, drink, and all things local. In practice, that means an evening of wandering between artisan vendors and small-batch makers, eating well from curated food trucks and pop-up kitchens, sipping cold Walkerville beer (or other local libations), and catching live entertainment in one of Windsor's most beautiful streetscapes.

It is entirely walkable, family-friendly, and the kind of event where you show up for an hour and end up staying until close. There's an ATM on-site, bike parking, and street parking nearby — though if you're staying at one of the Distillery Homes, you won't need any of it. You'll simply walk out the front door.

June 26 is when Walkerville exhales. Six weeks of cold and grey give way to a warm Friday night on Argyle Road, and the neighbourhood remembers what summer feels like.

The September edition carries a different kind of energy. There's a bittersweet quality to it — the best of summer distilled into one last evening. Regulars come back for it specifically, and first-timers often leave wishing they'd planned their whole summer around the market calendar. That's the idea: come once, plan around it next year.

A Perfect Reason to Stay the Weekend

The Night Market draws visitors from across Windsor-Essex — and increasingly, from further afield. We regularly host guests from Essex, Leamington, Kingsville, and Belle River who plan a full Walkerville weekend around it. Rather than driving home after a long evening of food and drinks on Argyle Road, they book a night or two at Distillery Homes and make a proper occasion of it.

It's a smart call. The market runs until 11pm, and Walkerville doesn't stop there. After the vendors pack up, the neighbourhood's restaurants and bars are still going — Wineology, Nauti V's Oyster Bar, F&B, and the Walkerville Brewery taproom itself all draw crowds on Night Market Fridays. A weekend stay turns one great evening into an entire experience: dinner before the market, the market itself, drinks after, a proper sleep in a heritage home, and a slow Saturday morning with coffee on the back porch.

For those coming in from the smaller communities of Essex County — or from across the border in Michigan — that combination of event, neighbourhood, and accommodation is genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else in the region.

Staying Local — and Staying Well

We think the Night Market is one of the best arguments for what Walkerville does better than anywhere else in Windsor: it creates genuine community events that bring people together without pretension. No cover charge, no dress code, no pressure. Just a well-run neighbourhood evening that happens to be one of the highlights of the Windsor summer calendar.

For our guests, the proximity is unbeatable. The Distillery Homes collection of properties are within a short walk of 525 Argyle Road. You can leave the car parked, walk to the market, eat and drink freely, and walk home. That's the whole premise of staying in Walkerville — the neighbourhood takes care of you, and you don't need to plan logistics.

If you're planning a summer visit to Windsor and want to time it right, the four Night Market Fridays are as good an anchor as any. Build your weekend around one of them — or come back for all four. We'll have the keys ready.
